The Council

For a five-minute phone call. What it is, who it is for, and how to invite a man as a guest. Built from the council call of 1 September 2026.

Say this first

The one-sentence version

"It's twenty-five men who run their lives on the same operating system, hold each other to a standard, and invest together — with Christ at the centre of it."

Then stop. Let him ask the next question. What he asks tells you which part of this page to use.

The model — and why it is not a social club

RESPONSIBILITY × STANDARD × EXECUTION Multiplication, not addition. One man shows up and it multiplies. Five men show up and it multiplies again.

It is multiplication, so any zero collapses the whole thing. That is the entire argument and it is worth saying out loud:

"You don't have any standard and you don't have any assignments. Add zeros to the equation and what you have is a social club, not the council."
"Men love a social club, because they get to hide and still get the feeling that they're fighting. But it's just the feeling. They're not really fighting — they're satisfied with the feeling that they are."

The four categories

Assignments are not random. They come out of a man's actual responsibilities, sorted into four categories drawn from Luke 2:52 — Jesus grew in stature, in wisdom, in favour with men, and in favour with God.

Body

Stature. Health, training, discipline with yourself.

Being

Relationship with God. The interior life.

Balance

Relationship with men. Wife, children, fellowship.

Business

Knowledge and wisdom. The work and the craft.

Why it works: it removes the scattered gaze that leaves a man frozen in front of a complicated life. He picks one category and solves one thing —

"Sin never travels alone. I handle one, and I'm knocking off six or seven others."

The menu changes every week. That is the point — it stays live rather than becoming a creed.

Fighting from an identity, not for one

This is the line that separates the Council from every other room a successful man has sat in. He is not there to earn standing. He already has it, in Christ. The fight is daily and it is against his own flesh, which wants to be a zero.

"We're not looking for stature. We fight from an identity, not for one."

On faith — the honest answer

It will come up. Do not soften it and do not apologise for it. The clean version:

If he asks whether he has to be a Christian

"We're not going to exclude you. But you need to understand this is who we are and how we operate — and we're not going to make excuses for that. Everything we point at is biblical. Without that, we've got no business giving each other advice."

Why now — information stopped being the product

"The coaching and advising industry is already filtered. The fake ones are filtered out. Why? They were taking a book and repeating the concept. ChatGPT has given everybody the knowledge. So it isn't about the information any more. It's about the time we spend together."

That is the argument for proximity. Everything a man can read, he can now get for free in seconds. What he cannot get is five men who know his assignments and will notice when he drifts.

What actually happens

The deal side — say it plainly, say it last

Twenty-five men. Fifty is the ceiling, twenty-five is the number. Men of the character to belong here and the capacity to take a position.

"Once we have those twenty-five, we can write two, three, four, five million into positions together. I could write an email and raise that anyway — but I'd rather do it with twenty-five men living under the same principles."

Access to deal flow is real and it is not the reason the room exists. Lead with the men, close with the deals. A man who comes only for the deals is the man who becomes a zero in the equation.

The invitation

How to end the call

"Come as my guest. Come to a call, or come to Laguna in December and see it — you don't have to decide anything. Most men can't tell what this is from a description. They can tell in a room."

The ask is a visit, not a decision. Nobody needs a big event to join, and one or two calls usually does the work a description cannot.
